KUPL July 16, 2014

As I’ve said before, when I started seriously recording in 2013-14, a major focus of my recording was trying to get stations which have been in their format for some time but I couldn’t find any recordings of. This station definitely fits that bill, having gone country in 1984. Although this aircheck has been traded a couple of times, it still appears to be the only one publicly available.

The station itself at this point had been country for about 30 years, but had been through a number of names over its history. It started out as Continuous Hit Country K98, before eventually becoming New Country 98.7 before eventually becoming The Bull, which it still is today. You’ll hear a more current clip of the station in a couple of weeks, but for now, here’s the station as it sounded in July 2014. Next week, we go about six months forward from when this was recorded.
