It wasn’t an April Fools joke, April 1, 2024 really did mark the end of the Star brand and Hot AC format on 101.5 in Seattle after 30 years. This recording was made off the station’s stream as I am no longer in the market. Unfortunately, I do not have any other clips of the station under Lotus, but even in this one, you can hear how much the station had changed. I suspect some of the songs in this clip were chosen specifically as a way to say goodbye after 30 years, but the entire imaging package, as you’ll notice, is quite different. The station did reimage after Christmas 2019, but recording had become a less important part of my life at that time. Even today, I only record occasionally, though more than I did a few years ago. While I’ll actually be in the market next week, you’ll hear a recording I made of the station from two years ago, ironically when I was in the market for the same reason I’m heading up there next week. So, enjoy the last of Star 101.5 now, and the aircheck of Hank FM next week, which I’ll schedule as I always do when I know I’ll be out of town.
