Fresh Listen, KKKJ Klamath Falls

When I reposted my review of stations I had previously set but had long since abandoned when I first started this site, one of the stations I brought up was Jammin’ 105.5 KKKJ/Klamath Falls, Oregon. I did not return to the station for another year or so, until one Saturday evening last March. You will recall that at the time of the original post, the station was running pretty much nothing but hits from 2010-2011. When I returned to the station, I discovered that the station was actually dayparted in an incredibly strange way. The station would play a couple hours f hits from 2010-11, then flip to a fairly broad mix of hits centered around 2005 but going back as far as 1997 at times for a couple hours, then flip again to an hour of hits from 2019, then repeat, all while running sweepers stating things like “You’re hearing the hits.” They also have a promo stating “We’ve got the bigger stick, and we’re not afraid to use it.” I’m not sure what this refers to, as their current closest format competitor is also on a class C2 signal as is 105.5. The previous CHR in the market was a class A signal, but that was sold several years ago and is now running K-Love. As it’s been several weeks since I’ve posted a commentary here, I figured I’d return to the station and give it a fresh listen. The station still appears dayparted, though one section has been pushed forward to be centered around 2013-14. Here’s the station at 11:15 A.M. on July 29, 2024:
