KQMV November 8, 2015

In general, I try to record for between 50 and 75 minutes because that’s enough to get an overview of what a station is going to sound like. For various reasons, I have some that are longer and some that are shorter, but that’s what I aim for. I also find clips of that length easiest to scope. The reason I bring all this up is because this aircheck is the only part of a longer aircheck that I actually decided to keep. Back then, I would record long clips, then split them up into smaller clips. This would then be what I listen to as I work on the computer over about the next month. Another thing to know about the way I record is that unless the aircheck is one of my early ones, I obtained it in a trade, or I used the timer on my radio to record it, I usually start the recording in a way that makes the start of the unscoped version you hear when you ask for it in a trade sound exactly as the scoped version you hear on this site would. The same goes for the end. With these long airchecks, if there were any points where the split files happened to be right at the beginning or end of a song, I would preserve that part, merging the files into one again. That’s how this aircheck came to be as long as it is. Next week we’ll wrap up our listen to KQMV with an aircheck I haven’t even recorded yet. I’m trying to get updated clips of as many stations I have older airchecks of as I can.
