The first aircheck I post here is one I recorded in 2014. At the time, I was very much obsessed with a site called Global Tuners, which allows users to remotely control radios from other parts of the country. At the time, there was a tuner in Eugene, which I used a lot to record both Eugene and Portland signals. KGON still was a rare catch though, as there’s an LP that blocks the signal usually. When there’s any kind of signal enhancement though, that station gets killed and KGON comes in like a local on this radio. That’s what happened this day. One of my goals was to record stations that have been around for a long time, and this station definitely fits that bill. For now, enjoy this clip, and look forward to the station celebrating 50 years next week.
