It must have been Spring 2000 when we discovered 96.5 had flipped from Young Country to 80s hits as 96.5 The Point. What I do remember is that at age six, I thought the new KYPT was much better than the 50s/60s oldies on KBSG. The station would remain a favorite for a couple of years, eventually replaced by the station we heard a few weeks ago, the returned KJR. It would be interesting if I could find some older clips of the station to figure out how my opinion of the station has changed over the years. This would be a pretty standard Classic Hits playlist in 2025, and I’m quite bored when listening to it today. I was six when the station launched, and would have been nine when this was recorded.
