KJR October 30, 2002

This is the aircheck I’ve been promising for the last couple of weeks.

First off, a bit of history on this frequency. When New Century Media acquired the 95.7 frequency in 1994, they flipped the station to all 70s, later evolving into a standard Classic Hits, as 95.7 KJR-FM. In 2000, that format was dropped for a brief run as Hot AC Mix 95.7, then as Urban Oldies as 95.7 The Beat. That format would come to an end in May 2002, when KJR-FM returned, positioned as Super Hits of the 60s and 70s. This aircheck was recorded on October 30 of that year, with afternoon drive host Bob Case. Next week, we’ll hear another clip, recorded the next day. One more thing, I teased a personal connection of sorts with this clip a couple weeks ago. Pay attention to the promo at the top for Trick Or Treat Street at Northgate Mall. I actually went to that. I was eight at the time. That mall is now closed and that area has been completely redeveloped.
