WRDW March 31, 2015

While we’ve listened to many stations already on this site recorded with the Global Tuners recorder, this is the first one that I actually was able to record using that method. Before then, I had to use Stereo Mix on my computer to record what GT was playing.

This aircheck is Philadelphia’s 96.5 WRDW, in its final days as Wired 96.5. I wanted to record it because even at that time, rumors were flying that the station would be relaunching as Amp Radio, having just been bought by CBS a month or so earlier. This also kicks off our listen to Philadelphia’s 96.5, a unique facility for this site. It is only one of a handful for which I have airchecks for under multiple formats, and the only one whose callsigns have not been alphabetical through those formats. Next week, we’ll find out what the station sounded like under Amp Radio, as the relaunch took place a couple of weeks after this clip was recorded.
